Community Day 2021

 This year for community day we went down to the Chicago Urban Art retreat to help out with some garden work. During our stay there we were able to see much art work from small artist struggling. There was much art on important topics such as mental health, freedom, and human rights. 

When it cam to the actual volunteering we were split into 2 groups and my group got to stay and clean up the garden next to the Chicago Urban Art building. We cleaned up all the dead plants and any trash we found around there. At the end we got to soften the soil and create a garden bed. After all that work we got to name the garden bed any name we chose, so we named it "Global Garden". 

Overall this was a fun experience and it even sparked an interest in gardening for me. I would definitely not mind volunteering in any gardening opportunities as it was a great way to exercise and get into closer contact with nature. I would definitely recommend in volunteering with any gardening opportunities. Until next time!
