Why the U.S and Other Powers Must Stay Out Of Venezuela

This unit in my rhetoric class we have been learning about the importance of using opinion and rhetoric to provoke change in our communities and quite possibly the world as well. We visited very important political community figures who we got to talk to and learn more about how we can make change in our community using the right ways of communication. We got to meet Alderman of the 25th Chicago Ward, Byron Sigcho Lopez, and talk to him about what it was like running a community and trying to address problems he wanted to solve. We also got to talk to Ugo Okere, who ran for alderman and while he did not win he gained experience which helped him further down his political career. Once our investigation on these topics had come to an end we had to put this into project form.

For this Action project we were asked to write an op-ed, or opinion piece (whatever you prefer calling it), of our own about any subject we were interested in. I personally chose to write mine about Venezuela due to recent news about Biden being pressured to put more attention on the situation in Venezuela. I decided to wrtie mine about the importance of staying our Venezuela's problems, as often times interventions to change regimes might have seemed to work superficially but often did more harm than good.

Rhetoric AP 2 op ed_ The US needs to stay out of Venezuela

Addendum: It is important to note that I intended not to sound to formal while writing this op-ed as I wanted to make it personal as well and tried asserting pathos in the first paragraph, logos in the body paragraphs, and ethos/pathos in the concluding paragraph. I also tried to include literary devices such as parallelism in the first statement in an attempt to strengthen and convey to the reader the importance of thinking about the Venezuelan people going through this crisis. Hope you enjoyed reading, thank you!
